When I started Boutique Fan Fan, I was looking for a soft, comfortable fabric to use in my creations. After researching different textiles, I found a fleece fabric made from 65% bamboo viscose and 35% cotton.
This fabric also has a story that means a lot to me: it was made in Canada. Two companies, one in Quebec and the other in Ontario, were involved in weaving and finishing it. I have kept a document confirming that it was made in Canada.
Today, this blend plays an important role in many of my creations. Here is why I appreciate it so much.

Softness, my first priority
For items that come into contact with the skin, softness matters a great deal to me.
What I love about this fleece is its soft feel and fluffy finish. It is a fabric I enjoy working with, and one I chose with everyday comfort in mind.
Of course, everyone has their own preferences and sensitivities. For me, this texture was love at first touch.
A fabric chosen for its absorption
Absorption was one of the factors that guided my choice of fabric for reusable pads.
Bamboo viscose and cotton fleece is one of the absorbent materials I use in my creations. Depending on the design, I combine it with other fabrics and adjust the number of layers to suit its intended use.
A pad’s capacity depends on its overall design, not just on a single fibre. That is why I pay attention to all the materials that go into each design.
Everyday comfort
To me, a pad should feel comfortable to wear, not just be practical.
The choice of fabrics, their texture and the thickness of each design are all things I consider when creating an item. My goal is to offer different options so you can choose what suits your needs and preferences.
As with any reusable pad, comfort also depends on choosing a suitable design and changing it as often as needed.
A blend of bamboo viscose and cotton
Why this blend rather than a single material?
I appreciate this fabric’s softness and flexibility, as well as the structure the cotton gives it. These are qualities I enjoy both while sewing and in the finished product.
Its exact composition is 65% bamboo viscose and 35% cotton. I make a point of saying “bamboo viscose,” rather than simply “bamboo,” to clearly describe the material used.
A cream shade I love to highlight
This fleece has a cream shade that I really love. Its understated appearance highlights its texture and fits naturally into many of my creations.

I choose each fabric according to its role in the item: some provide absorption, while others contribute to comfort, protection or the outer appearance. This fleece is one of my favourite materials, but it is not the only one I use.
How to care for your items
Proper care helps keep your reusable items in good condition through repeated use.
Since my creations may combine several materials, always start with the care instructions for the design you have chosen. The recommendations are not necessarily the same for every product.
Washing and drying methods should suit the entire item, not just the bamboo and cotton fleece. If you are unsure, send me a message: I can guide you based on your design.
My commitment to you
Behind every Boutique Fan Fan creation are thoughtful material choices, hard work and plenty of care.
This Canadian-made fleece is one of those choices that means a lot to me. I love its softness, its texture and knowing about its manufacturing journey in Quebec and Ontario.
I also offer designs I call “Easy Care,” for those who prefer that option. My wish is to give you a range of choices so you can find what works for you.
